A Social Event Archive is a collection of informal (snapshot) photographs contributed by the public. The Archive assembles the photos in the order received, and presents them as a traveling exhibition, website, and in limited edition books.

A Social Event Archive website designed by Peter DiAntoni 2002
Created by Paul Druecke 1997

A Social Event Archive began in 1997 when artist Paul Druecke went door to door inviting people to contribute one photo from their personal collection.

Druecke created the project around the simple invitation that everyone is invited to contribute one photo.

After visiting hundreds of houses the collection was 15 photos strong. Mr. Druecke then initiated a flyer campaign and enlisted family and friends to both contribute a photo and spread the invitation to others. The invitation now travels word of mouth and with exhibitions of the photos. A Social Event Archive currently holds over 700 photos in its collection.

A Social Event Archive, 1997-2007, is no longer accepting submissions. Guidelines are provided for informational purposes.
