For this project, Druecke commissioned a piece of artwork by artist Scott Wolniak in order to give it to the city of Houston. Druecke neither solicited nor received permission for his gift. City officials and the general public were invited to the unveiling ceremony.

A foldout mailer commemorating the event accompanies the project. Bright Sun Partial Shade took place in conjunction with the Heather Johnson's Cracks in the Pavement: Gifts in the Urban Landscape.
